Abstract:

У дисертації стиль англійської клавірної музики другої половини XVI - початку XVII ст. досліджується на нотному матеріалі Фітцвільямової вірджинальної книги. У роботі використовується комплексний підхід до вивчення музичного стилю, в якому сучасні стильові концепції доповнюються матеріалами історичних наративних джерел, відповідних досліджуваній епосі. Стиль англійської клавірної музики другої половини XVI - початку XVII ст. розглядається на трьох рівнях: загальному, особливому та одиничному (за концепцією М. Михайлова). У дисертації узагальнюються результати проведеного аналізу 297 творів ФК, розподілених відповідно до жанрових груп, представлених у збірці. У роботі виокремлюються риси індивідуальних композиторських стилів В. Бьорда, Д. Булла, П. Філіпса, Дж. Фарнебі. Кожен з них випрацював власний набір фігурацій шляхом поєднання різних типів димінуційних формул, і створив індивідуальний фігураційний стиль. У дисертації досліджується взаємозв’язок англійської клавірної, консортної та вокальної музики другої половини XVI - початку XVII ст.; репертуар ФК вивчається у контексті тогочасної англійської музичної культури. Крім того, у роботі поглиблюються та деталізуються уявлення про відмінності між англійською та континентальною клавірною музикою другої половини XVI - початку XVII ст., про національну специфіку стилю музики англійських вірджиналістів.

Description:

In the dissertation the style of English keyboard music of the second half of XVI - beginning of XVII centuries is scrutinized on the musical material of the Fitzwilliam Virginal book. Complex method of musical style study is used in the work. Modern concepts of musical style are corrected and supplemented with materials from historical narrative sources relevant to the epoch. The style of English keyboard music of the second half of XVI - beginning of XVII centuries is examined on three levels: general, particular and singular (according to M. Mikhailov’s conception). The results of analysis of 297 pieces from the Fitzwilliam Virginal book, which were divided into groups according to genre groups, are generalized in the dissertation. Peculiarities of individual composer manners of W. Byrd, J. Bull, P. Philips, G. Farnaby are marked out. Each of them developed his own set of keyboard figurations by combining different types of diminutions and in this way each of them created individual figurative style. In keyboard works of W. Byrd there is special type of imitative writing with specific «braiding» of the voices. The composer prefers melodic figurations, often with parallel thirds, sixths and decimas. G. Farnaby usually combines melodic (scale-type) and harmonic (broken intervals, chords, short arpeggio) figurations. Consequently, original non-pattern meloharmonic figurations appear. It is impossible to mark out any pattern or position in the line of Farnaby’s figurations. J. Bull as G. Farnaby broadly uses scale-type of figurations with wide range and different length, broken intervals, broken chords, short and long arpeggio. Using of patterns is common for Bull’s figurations. J. Bull was that composer who elaborated specific keyboard types of texture which found further development in keyboard music of XVIII century (pieces of C. Czerny, M. Clementi, J.-N. Hummel, M. Moszkowsky and others). Study of such influence can be the subject of separate research. P. Philips uses melodic type of figurations similar to figurations used by W. Byrd. In the dissertation an interconnection of English keyboard, consort and vocal music of the second half of XVI - beginning of XVII centuries is explored; the repertoire of the Fitzwilliam Virginal book is examined in the context of English musical practice of that time. Besides this the ideas about the difference between English and continental keyboard music of the second half of XVI - beginning of XVII centuries, about national features of the style of English virginal music, about connections between English music culture of the second half of XVI - beginning of XVII centuries and general esthetic of the epoch are specified and considered in details.
