Дисертація присвячена дослідженню сучасного стану використання традиційних засобів формування проектного образу в промисловому дизайні. З’ясовано як в умовах широкого впровадження комп’ютерних технологій у всі сфери проектної діяльності відбувається трансформація мислення дизайнера, та як в нових реаліях має розвиватися дизайнерська освіта. Автором вперше досліджено взаємозв’язок між сучасними цифровими технологіями та традиційними при формуванні проектного образу об’єктів промислового дизайну. Особливої ваги отримані результати набувають, враховуючи те, що вказані взаємозв’язки розглядаються при впровадженні різних систем САПР. Такий підхід наглядно ілюструє існуючий потенціал фізичного макетування, та дає чіткі орієнтири для освітньої галузі щодо методик підготовки фахівців в сфері дизайну. Зроблено аналіз досвіду провідних дизайнерських шкіл дизайну майже в столітній ретроспективі, та спираючись на аналітичні висновки, запропоновано новаційні методики підготовки вітчизняних фахівців-дизайнерів в сучасних умовах та з огляду на перспективу.

In the theory and practice of the design environment, there is an opinion that there is an urgent need for more active introduction of modeling methods in the design process, as they help to identify new techniques and goals, to reach new levels of design, provide effective results and represent effective tools for professional design interpretation situation and purposeful implementation of design activities. Meanwhile, it is rather vivid to understand the fact that the modeling task in design is complex and not sufficiently studied. To a large extent, this problem extends to visual modeling, in particular on volumetric-plastic, namely, prototyping. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is that for the first time in the domestic design theory the practice of prototyping in the context of the formation of the the design image author's idea has been considered; the specificity of the application of search prototyping in the process of design image forming in industrial design has been defined at different stages of its formation; the analysis of model search conducting principles in conditions of real design on the example of the known foreign manufacturers has been carried out; the means of activating design-image thinking in the process of search prototyping have been identified and analyzed; its role and place have been determined; experience of application of The influence of CAD technologies and rapid design technologies introduction (RP) on the project image formation of industrialdesign objects has been clarified.Тhe functional purpose of search prototyping in the structure of the project process has been considered and the role of search prototyping in the initial stages of designing has been defined: the definition of "architecture" of the object taking into account ergonomic factors; solution of figurative and stylistic characteristics; finding out the consumer characteristics of the "product" of the design search. On concrete examples, the stages of forming the objects of industrial design with the use of the basic methods of a prototyping search: combinatorial and assembling have been considered. It has been found out which materials are the main in the process of prototyping search, and their main constructive and artistic composition characteristics have been given. The intensification of the influence in the computer technologies design practice in the field of three-dimensional modeling, which allow experimenting with the form of designing object to the implementation of physical prototypes, has been noted. These technologies and related rapid prototyping technologies (RP) significantly affect the time and quality of the design process, but do not act as competing with traditional methods of design search. The example of theleading European automakers, BMW and PSA Peugeot Citroen, has shown how the introduction of the latest CAD technologies affects the design process structure, and the role of the prototype search in achieving the high quality of the industrial design object has been determined. The current state and modern tendencies of prototyping application practice in professional design practice by the domestic designers have been considered. The practice of solving the design image by means of search prototyping on the example of the leading design schools has been considered: the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts,University of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein, Milan Polytechnic School of Design, Moscow State Art and Industry Academy after Stroganov (Russia).Examples from the education process on the specialty "Design" at the Cherkassy State Technological University Design Department and the author's own developments of the dissertation on the consistent implementation of the principles of scenario modeling using search modeling as a way of creating a design image of industrial design products. The conclusions summarize the research results.
