Abstract:

Дисертацію присвячено вивченню ролі львівського періоду творчості Михайла Бойчука у загальному обширі його творчого шляху. Проаналізовано взаємозв’язок львівського періоду з паризьким та київським, охарактеризовано творчий метод М. Бойчука, проведено художній аналіз збережених творів станкового малярства, проекту поліхромій, ікон, сакральної тематики, графіки та ілюстрацій. Докладне вивчення різних аспектів життєвого та творчого шляху художника у його львівському періоді дало змогу відкрити феномен М. Бойчука й бойчукізму. Проведено детальну реконструкцію подій і фактів, що стосуються львівського періоду його творчості. Прослідковано формування творчого методу М. Бойчука та формування власних поглядів на розвиток українського мистецтва того часу. Докладно проаналізовано художньо-стилістичні, композиційно-формальні та інші якості збережених творів художника. Саме львівський період став для М. Бойчука найбільш продуктивним у плані власної творчої реалізації. Художник тільки повернувся з так званої мистецької лабораторії в Парижі, де відбувались глибинні процеси формування нових стилістичних віянь у мистецтві, тож це був час його самоусвідомлення та самовираження в українському мистецтві. На основі художнього аналізу творів львівського періоду зроблено висновки про характер творчого шляху художника, його реставраційну, музейну, організаційну, педагогічну та теоретичну спадщину.

Description:

The dissertation is devoted to studying the role of theLviv period of creativity of Mykhailo Boychuk in the general scope of his creative path. The interrelation of the Lviv period with Paris and Kiev was analyzed, the M.Boychuk creative method was characterized, an artistic analysis of preserved works of easel painting, a project of polychrome, icons, sacred themes, graphs and illustrations was conducted. A detailed study of various aspects of the artist's life and creative ways in his Lviv period allowed us to discover the phenomenon of Boychuk and Boychukism. A detailed reconstruction of events and facts related to the Lviv period of his work has been carried out. The formation of M. Boychuk's creative method and the formation of his own views on the development of Ukrainian art of that time were followed. The artistic and stylistic, compositional and formal and other qualities of the saved works of the artist are analyzed in detail. It was Lvov's period that became the most productive for M. Boychuk in terms of his own creative realization. The artist came back from the so-called artistic laboratory in Paris, where there were deep processes in the formation of new stylistic trends in art, and this was the time of his self-realization and expression in Ukrainian art. On the basis of the artistic analysis of works of the Lviv period, conclusions were drawn about the character of the artist's creative path, his restoration, museum, organizational, pedagogical and theoretical heritage.The main form of M. Boychuk's artistic activity in 1910-1914 was religious painting. He restored forgotten techniques of tempera and frescoes, becamethe acknowledged restorer on the territory of Ukraine. M. Boychuk left good examples of monumental paintings in Lviv. After V. Krichevsky he perhaps the most profoundly understood decorative Ukrainian art, again began to use a woven ornament and renewed the monumental decoration of the walls. During the Lviv period the artist performed several monumental works. These are, first and foremost, the wall paintings in the St. John's Chapel (1911, Lviv, Petro Skarga St., 2a), the depiction in the church of the nunnery of the Order of St. Basil the Great (1912-1914, Slovita village, Zolochiv district, Lviv region). The painting of the altar part in the Lord Transfiguration Church (1912, Yaroslav, Poland). In the last two mentioned monuments single wall paintings are saved. Also, in various sources, we find however unverified information about the possible paintings by M. Boychuk (in addition to his restoration works) in the church in Lemeshi. At the present stage of development of Ukrainian art and cultural studies, when science tries to solve problems of an artistic process theory, individual phenomena and certain periods of well-known artists’ creativity in the twentieth century are increasingly entering the orbit of scientific research.
