Abstract:

У дисертаційному дослідженні розглядається важливий чин візантійського обряду  вечірнє богослужіння, зміст якого розкриває таїнства християнського вчення. Структура вечірні була повністю адаптована в Києворуський період, і вже відтоді вибрані піснеспіви цієї служби входять до національних рукописних літургійних збірників. Важливо відзначити, що репертуар вечірні за Типіконом Дольницького (ХІХ ст.) свідчить про збереження основного змісту і послідувань піснеспівів вечірні від часів прийняття Україною християнства. З упровадженням в Україні п’ятилінійного типу запису (XVI ст.) виникають нотовані ірмологіони, репертуар яких охопив найбільш уживані й найяскравіші літургійні піснеспіви в точному прочитанні. На цій основі простежено процес фіксації жанрів вечірні в українських ірмологіонах XVI–XVIIІ ст., здійснено їх класифікацію в контексті цілісної структури вечірнього богослужіння. Виокремлено репертуар змінних і незмінних циклів, які творять певний змістовий каркас служби, представлений у жанровому різноманітті: від стислого прокимена до мелодично розлогого догматика. Докладний аналіз цих піснеспівів дозволив виявити загальні структурні риси вечірні з позиції співдії богословського змісту і музичнопоетичного складу, що сукупно творять досконалу музичну форму. Такий зв’язок досягається також характерними музичними особливостями: виразово-інтонаційними, ладовими і метро-ритмічними засобами. Все це увиразнює глибокий зміст вечірнього богослужіння, виокремлюючи його як одне з центральних у добовому літургійному колі.

Description:

The thesis considers vesper as an important Byzantine ritual. Its content reveals the mystery of Christian doctrine. Historical aspect of vesper structure has been examined, as well as the context of early Christian forms of service and the development processes associated with religious practices and further cathedral worship have been revealed. In the process of evolution, vesper presents an important link in the mapping of the eschatology of Christian time, which is deepened into the mystery of the creation of the world. It symbolizes the mystery of expectations of the Savior’s birth on earth that fulfills the promises of the Lord. Furthermore, it is a solid foundation for the further implementation of evangelical events. The structure of vesper was completely adapted in the period of Kyiv Rus and since then the selected chants of this service have been included to the national liturgical manuscript collections. The statutes as a source of preservation of liturgical structure ritual have been taken into account. Among them were the Typicon of Stoudios regulations, The Great Church Typicon and Izydor Dolnytskyi Typicon (1899). In the latter the author summed up the statutes of the Ukrainian Church and ordered them according to the contemporary practical liturgical use. It is worth mentioning that vesper repertoire according to Dolnytskyi Typicon testifies the preservation of the main content and the inheritance of vesper chants from the time of the adoption of Christianity in Ukraine. With the introduction of the five-linear record type (16th cent.) in Ukraine the musical irmologions have arisen. Their repertoire covered the most common and colorful liturgical chants in the exact reading. On this basis, we have analyzed the process of fixing of vesper genres in the Ukrainian irmologion of the 16th –18th centuries, classified them in the context of an integrated structure of vesper worship and discovered some particular genre differentiation. We have determined the repertoire of variable and constant cycles that create a meaningful service framework which is presented in the variety of genres, from short prokeimenon to lengthy melodic dogmatica-bohorodychni. Vesper chants are vividly presented in such heirmologions as Supraslskyi (16th cent.), Peremyshlskyi (17th cent.), Zhyrovytskyi (1649), and KyivPecherskyi (18 th cent.). Some genres are presented in different melodic variations, defined as tune. Among them the most common are Kyiv, KyivPechersk, Ostrog, Lviv, Pidhirtsi heirmologions, indicating the stylistic diversity and singing interpreting of the liturgical text. This is probably also associated with its belonging to the ordinary or festive liturgical rite. For the complete analysis we have selected the following vesper genres: Proemial Psalm 103, selected verses of the first kathisma «Blazhen muzh» (The Blessed man), ancient Christian hymn «Svite Tykhyy» (O Gladsome Light), the preyer «Spodoby Hospody» (Vouchsafe, O Lord), the Canticle of St. Simeon «Nyni otpushchayeshy» (Lord, now lettest Thou Thy servant depart in peace), octoechos cycles, the sticheron «Hospody vozzvakh» (Lord I cry), and the cycle of large daily prokeimenons. The detailed analysis of hymns allowed us to identify deeper the common structural features of vesper from the point of view of musical as well as poetic composition and theological content which are supported by the image expression and deep Christian symbolism. We find the general principles of melodic development determined by the song variance, the principle of repetition and modal. An important element of the form is the сadence constructions, that demonstrates different forms of contrasting melodic diversity. They are built on the basis of rhythmic fragmentation, syncopated rhythm or melisma. Vesper melodic chants demonstrate various deployment forms of the material – from syllabic recitative to flexible melisma of presentation, due to which melodic canvas of monody chants demonstrates the flexibility and capacity of content layers. All this highlights the deep meaning of vesper, considering it as one of the central service in the daily liturgical circle.
